Now, we really like working with these nitrile rings on the Recap lids. Would love to have a source for replacement nitrile rings as they can get damaged over the years we've used them but do not stretch like the the Tattlers. Anyone know of a source?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07045267459021433273noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27248498.post-88960286598893865032014-05-26T20:31:09.018-04:002014-05-26T20:31:09.018-04:00Thanks so much for your article. I only wish i would have found this before i ordered 100 of the lids from 4Ever Caps.

I thought it was my fault when i had such a high failure rate every time i would try and use the lids. I was getting an average of 75% failure. In the same batches i would do a few jars with metal lids and they always seal.

The remaining jars that did seal went on my shelf along with everything else. I discovered that nothing stays sealed for more than 3 months.

I have jars of food that i canned 2 years ago with metal lids and they look just as beautiful as the day i canned them. The 4Ever caps were a horrible waste of money and the customer service is hopeless.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27248498.post-29379281441919849922014-01-15T14:52:49.390-05:002014-01-15T14:52:49.390-05:00Thanks for this well written article. I bought 20 small mouth and 20 large mouth 4Ever Recap lids at a sustainability expo. We canned applesause and peaches with these lids and even though we following the directions exactly have had about 20% initial failure rate, which requires reprocessing. This would be bad enough, but we have had at least 25% that had a seal, but then lost it over time. I don't plan to ever use these lids again and would not recommend them to anyone. Home canning is too much work as it is to have it wasted with bad seals.
Brother Wrighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02629764438638509055noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27248498.post-74646008745579730122014-01-15T14:51:40.680-05:002014-01-15T14:51:40.680-05:00Great article.
